Dr Che-yung (Jeff) Chao

Dr Che-yung (Jeff) Chao is a Gastroenterologist with a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care and helping patients feel informed and comfortable throughout their treatment.

Dr Chao completed his medical degree at the University of Otago and undertook his physician training in Queensland, mainly at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He then completed an advanced fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease at McGill University in Canada.

He is currently a senior staff specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, managing a wide range of digestive conditions and performing gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and bowel cancer screening. He is also involved in research and clinical trials to bring the latest treatments to his patients.
