Dr. Faris is a General Surgeon with over 25 years of experience in the field of surgery. He has worked as a specialist surgeon in multiple countries, mastering both open and laparoscopic procedures with the most up-to-date techniques. Dr. Faris is known for his expertise across a broad spectrum of general surgeries.
Areas of Practice:
Dr Faris’ clinical and academic focus span a broad range of surgical specialties, including breast surgery, colorectal surgery, endocrine surgery, and surgical oncology. He has a strong focus on rural and remote surgery, trauma surgery, and the management and treatment of skin melanoma. His expertise also includes upper gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, with extensive experience in both HPB and other upper gastrointestinal procedures. Dr Faris is actively engaged in research across these areas, supporting ongoing advancements in surgical care and patient outcomes.
Background and Training
Dr Faris Alaswad began his surgical training in Iraq in 1990 and has since gone on to achieve several prestigious professional affiliations throughout his career. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow (UK), and the European Board of Surgery. He also holds fellowship with the Iraqi Committee of Medical Specialties in General Surgery, reflecting the foundation of his early clinical training, as well as fellowship with the American Society of Abdominal Surgery. These diverse and internationally recognised qualifications highlight Faris’ extensive expertise and commitment to advancing surgical practice across multiple regions and disciplines.
