About

Dr Miguel Marquez grew up in Sydney Western Suburbs and after 1 year at UNSW, migrated back to Uruguay to continue his studies. After graduating and working in acute care for a year, he migrated back to Australia and undertook his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Westmead Hospital.

He spent 3 years of his training at Dubbo Hospital where he gained much knowledge into the holistic approached needed to practice in regional Australia.

His passion for rural medicine saw him set up practice in Dubbo, were he initiated Dubbo’s first Urodynamics Service. In May 2016 he reallocated his Practice to Orange to be closer to family.

He enjoyed being able to provide his services to the rural community, travelling to Parkes, Cowra, Dubbo and Mudgee for clinics and surgeries. He has also been part of the Genea IVF Orange Clinic.

Now after 10 yrs has moved to Port Macquarie where he offeres services in General Gynaecology, Colposcopy, Urogynaecology, IVF and Minimal Invasive Surgery, while still servicing the communities of Mudgee and Parkes.

Through out his career he has been a vivid participant in the education of medical students, junior doctors and nursing staff. He was the Training Supervisor for the RANZCOG and APTP trainees as well as JMO Supervisor at Orange Health Services. He has been  Clinical Lecturer in the University of Sydney’s Medical School (Rural Health), as well as teaching  and examining medical students from UNSW, USYD, Wollongong Uni,  Univerity of Canberra, Newcastle Uni. He is a member of the Examination Commitee  (EC) and  Conjoint  Committee for Associate Procedural Training (CCAPT) for the Royal Australian New Zealand College Of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist (RANZCOG). He is currentyl one for the Directors of the APTP OSCE examinations for RANZCOG.

Dr Marquez was also the first OGETs Coordinator for NSW, providing education in obstetrics to rural GPs, Midwives, RNs,allied health, students and paramedics.

When he is not working or teaching, he is enjoying his 4 children. Between his practice, family and formative commitments he enjoys what ever time he has left to football (soccer), tennis and outdoor activities such as hiking and sea kayaking.
